Dad's Tools

Does anyone recognize these? They both appear to be hand-made, but I doubt that my dad made them. It's possible that my mother made the case, but I almost think I would have been told about that, so I'm suspecting that he purchased them somewhere.

The bag is most likely that of DS9Designs by Debbie Arnold. She introduced this very clever bag to the tatting community ages ago. The wooden tool that spins around is a shuttle winder. You slip both open ends of the shuttle into the green holders and you can turn the handle to wind the thread onto the post of the shuttle.

Thanks, tatman! I have used the shuttle winder when I use post shuttles. I was wondering if anyone knows of its origins.

Ah, I was going to say the wooden thing was a shuttle winder but I see Mark beat me to it! I only know that because I saw it ...somewhere.

Folks on HBT are talking about shuttle winders. I've never seen one and now I know.

Joy, I am thinking about the suggestin that you left on my blog.

I've seen a different type of shuttle winder on an online catalog somewhere, but that is interesting. I've learned something new! Thanks for sharing, Joy.
